Will posting from my phone work?

Even if I include smilies? 😘🍵🔺🏠👃👎🐦😲🏩🍆🐢🗾🎌

Well, anyway. Last night I had a dream that involved a trip to “France”. But every single street looked like the Arc Du Triomphe / Central Bucharest / George Terrace in Bath / The Vatican / St Petersberg… so it was clearly supposed to be Homonia, the gay homeland from my comics. Anyway, me and some friends were getting in a car, when this lawyer type gets in, and asks if any of us have this old Nintendo console, which supposedly came out in between the Gamecube and Wii, and was a huge flop.

The driver (with light brown skin, long, dark brown hair and black eyes – very hot) said he did, and the lawyer type said he was responsible for pirating it, and would have him arrested. But then we drove around for ages and nothing happened.

Then we all realised that having the guy who wants to escape driving wasn’t the best idea, and I reached over and grabbed the wheel, while my friend Kate reached her feet over to work the pedals (the car was like the first Renault Grande Scenic, only with a 3×3 seating plan, and a different, and more sensible, dashboard).

Anyway, we tried to erratically drive somewhere, but the guy jumped out and ran into one of the many giant buildings (covered with many marble neoclassical details). A huge fight started in the lobby, and he somehow locked most of the others in a small room. It was left to me and the lawyer type to just hang on, and wait for him to tire himself out XD.

Oh, also, the dream only occupied about 5 minutes of sleep!

Dreamed I met Brianna Wu o_O

Well, I mean, of course I’m a gater. But I’m in it for the battle against censorship, leftist revisionism and cultural marxism in general. I don’t really give a crap about specific “enemies”, especially if all they have done is make a naff game or two and complain about us on the telly. But still, there she was. (Yeah, she, guess I’m too far gone, eh?)

Anyway, I’ve only seen like 2 pics of her, so she was short, had glasses, and was kinda cute. She was visiting my job, and we had some awkward conversation, trying not to mention our positions on “gate”. Later I was having lunch, in a circle of people (the building I have lunch in has now “changed hands”, and we don’t really all eat together any more. I finally have a desk, so I draw at break times), and somebody else was vaguely insulting her in rhyme. He also sounded like a bully from my secondary school. It was putting me off reading a lurid 60’s paperback, so I sarcastically asked him if he was “flyting”, and felt rather put out that he actually knew what that was. Meanwhile Brianna just vanished entirely o_O.

Suddenly, and for no reason, these thumbnails have started to be stretched vertically. Anway, a gingerbread house somebody at work made for Christmas. Check out the second photo!

Third hibernating butterfly to wake up too early. This one I kept in my cabinet with a flower it could eat pollen from, but it died anyway.

The last sunset of the year (2013!) was wonderful. Taken with two different cameras…

There’s a monthly manga meetup in London, which I went to a few times last year. This year I hope to go more regularly. I had to kill time (it’s on a Sunday, everything shuts hours beforehand), so went to the Embankment, first time I’ve been there, actually.

Czech big apple cookie thing

Actually I had this closer in time to the “perfume flavoured” Russian sweets than now. But Could never be bothered to get the photos off my phone. Anyway it’s layers of very thin biscuity stuff with dried apple-ey tasting stuff inside. It’s actually kind of like apple Go Ahead! bars, only with more of it, and no brown sugar.

Who I once was

We had a family lockup, but with impending financial trouble have emptied it to sell / use stuff, and save money on renting it. Unfortunately we lost the key for one of the cabinets, and have turned the place upside down looking for it. I didn’t find it on top of my wardrobe, but I did find most of my old college work, and the doodles I’d done on it. There’s actually surprisingly few doodles – don’t tell me I was actually paying attention!

Anyway, I thought I’d scan in the most amusing doodles and upload them to Facebook, but as facebook shrinks them, I’ll also put them on here. As you can see, I was an anarchist at the time, and wrote a lot of hilariously embarrassing political messages. College was a pretty traumatic time for me. Mainly because the one I went to was full of GCSE-failing chavs who were doing either bricklaying or leisure and tourism, and mainly because it was 2001 and people were scummy then. But also it was because I had all these ultra-leftist beliefs, which would today be labelled “SJW”. My pronouncements on the evils of capitalism and the tories alienated most of my friends, or potential friends. I was also pretty shy and looked ridiculous (even more so than now XD).

Strangely, while I was often talking about overthrowing the government, calling people sexist for saying girls were sexy, and glorifying the antics of 80’s leftist protesters who kicked Nicky Crane’s head in (I didn’t know what happened to him afterwards, the only thing I’d heard about him came from a pirated Oi Polloi mp3), I never made a peep about gay rights, and only ever told a couple of people I was bi. So we can add cowardice to my many failings.

I’m not flawless…

I complain about mistakes people at my work make a lot, but that doesn’t stop me from doing stupid things do. This being a pretty spectacular case in point. The old drying cabinet in one lab was built in the pre-health and safety days, so when it’s turned up to full, it gets VERY HOT. I didn’t even know it had a temperature control, and didn’t bother to look, I just turned it on and left it… some other people in the lab fortunately smelled nasty smoke in time, and turned it down, but by then the damage was done:

Enjoy these mini-“galleries” while you can. The “upgrade” my comic blog has suffered makes them far more difficult and annoying to create.

Still, I had a go at salvaging un-damaged tips (there was quite a few) and putting them in new boxes.

No idea what will happen to the stuff that’s melted into the cabinet itself. I suppose that will ‘crisp up’ in time and crumble into dust.

Classic Westerns

I caught Winchester 73 on TV years ago, and it immediately became one of my favourite films. In HMV today I saw it on sale for just £6, and bought it. I also saw another, erm, “western” which isn’t quite to orthodox XD

Now, which do I watch first?

Apparently it’s based on a zombie hack n’ slash game in Japan. And the temptation to move there grows once more…

Fixing shoes, with SCIENCE

The other week, my shoes (which I’d only had since late december) started to leak water at the back. I wasn’t prepared to buy some new ones so soon, so I attempted repairs… first persuading dad to stick some leftover sealant from the building of the new front door* in them.

After that predictably didn’t work, I tried repairing them with some strange tape I found at work, it was more like slightly-thicker tinfoil with glue on it:

shosci03.jpg – shosci04.jpg

Actually called “Hippo Tape”, a hippo is stronger than a duck, right?

After that predictably didn’t work, I used good old duck tape:

 shosci05.jpg – shosci06.jpg

That worked for a few days, but eventually frayed. I then used some even wierder tape I found, it’s very thick and tarry, being used for holding down roofing material! Unfortunately, you’re probably supposed to burn it on with a heat gun, or else stick it on on a summer’s day and leave it to cure for hours or days. Sticking it to barely-dried, dirty shoes didn’t really work. It didn’t fray very much, though, and certainly kept the water out, but soon just came off as one solid heel-shaped lump.

After that… I just went down JD Sports and got some discounted Dunlop Safety boots. Now those last for ages!

*-he’s replaced a large area of double-layered brick and double glazing with single glazing and thin wood. Ah yes, the one thing I’ve been thinking this winter is that the house was too warm. Oh also the new lock on the door is utterly stupid. You have to pull the door outwards, push the handle down, put the key in, push the handle down again, turn the key, push the handle down again, turn the key a bit more, and push the handle down a bit further. Hope you don’t have only one hand free…
